Stalking bests waitlist

Just would like to give my experience. I needed one day to complete my Poly reservation in July. I had two days in the front and two days at the end, I needed the middle day. I waitlisted that one day and was able to get it by stalking over the waitlist.

There seems to have been a whole week that was dropped which I’m guessing takes more processing time to determine what waitlists would get filled in what order. I just know I was able to secure my one day before the waitlist was processed.

I needed to book HHI @ 7 months and when I went to do so the room was not available (owners had already booked it). Thinking that some owners may be walking rooms to Thanksgiving or Christmas, I waited until the next day to see if the room became available. And it did! I continued this daily for the days I wanted and will do so again tomorrow.

My understanding is that this works best one day at a time. I agree, BCV during F&W is probably a long shot.
A similar strategy worked for us with Grand Californian! Husband pieced together 5 nights in August for our first trip to DL. I honestly didn’t think it would happen but it was a welcome surprise. Glad you had success!

Correct - fewer days have a better chance of being filled. I would add a second WaitList for fewer days perhaps. Keeping in mind, when they fill any WaitList they will automatically cancel your second WaitList (in the same Use Year), so you need to go back in right away and re-add what you still need. Then have them link your reservations when you're done so you are not room hopping. They warn they may not be able to link them all - but I've found they usually even do it automatically if you're far enough out.
Oh no this has me nervous...am I understanding this correctly? I have two separate nights waitlisted in November- if one gets filled, they'll cancel my waitlist for the other night because they're in the same UY?

I think this was in reference to two waitlists for the same dates ...in that scenario, if one of the waitlists fulfills the other (for the same dates) will be cancelled. since your waitlists are for two separate nights you should be fine!

Okay this makes much more sense!

For us we had success with stalking and with a waitlist. We were somehow able to snag a Tower Studio at Riviera for 6 days over Thanksgiving, but still needed the Saturday before and after. We put a waitlist in for both. I was able to stalk and get the 2nd Saturday. Today a waitlist came in for the 1st Saturday. So we now have 9 nights (we already had gotten the first Friday a well) at Riviera for 156 points over Thanksgiving. Didn’t think that would ever happen.

I have great luck with waitlists, but recently it has been great!

Got 3 nights SV at RIv both Aug and Dec…which I didn’t think would happen..had PV booked.

And, just got 3 nights PV there for a lat minute trip the first week in June using two different ones since we had book as 2/1 elsewhere.

This is a great score! congratulations!

that is fantastic you were able to swap PV for SV!

I've lucked out with both. Just this last month we were debating adding on a 3 night trip in July. I was on the fence, but stalking daily. I saw two nights boardwalk view studio pop up and I grabbed it followed by one night garden view at BWV. Then less than two weeks later that one night waitlist hit to move the garden view to boardwalk so we are able be in the same room the entire stay.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised to get 3 nights in a boardwalk view studio -- all within a few months of travel.

My BWV Wait-list for 1 Night in a Std View Studio just came through. We had booked 14 Nights, but the Northbound AutoTrain went on sale 1 night beyond our stay. We booked the 1 night in a P/G View room at BWV as a back-up, and also booked a hotel room in Sanford for that night, as a back-up to the back-up :P
I was pleased to see the first of the 2 emails, stating "Your Reservation has been cancelled"(Why does that one always come up first??), followed by the Wait-list Reservation. :thumbsup2
I cancelled the hotel room, and called member services to ask them to link that 1 Night to the preceding 14 nights.
The CM told me that it could take 1 to 2 weeks for that to be processed. (Is that normal??)
She also told me that she had seen quite a few wait-list come through this week.
My wait-list success is now 2 for 3, over the last 4 years.
Good Luck to all who are still waiting for theirs.

I’ve been quoted 5-7 business days recently. It took 4 last time I believe (this was recent). It used to be pretty instantaneous. I suspect they limit who can do the merges now as I know there was at least one report of somebody losing their reservation at BCV because the merge got messed up.

That's encouraging - Thanks for the info.!
