Disney’s Magic Band FAQ Link

Thank you. It’s a magic band plus. I know the charging part only means that the light up feature works. I didn’t think it help the function if you like of the band.
Since it's a MB+, bring the charging cable that came with it and re-charge it nightly. The battery in the MB+ should keep it's charge for several days unless you do any of the interactive games (Bounty Hunting in Galaxy's Edge, etc.).

Oh yes, recharging it means the battery is active and the MB+ will link ride photos to your account! I just bought a MB+ for our upcoming trip so that I didn’t have to worry about whether the battery was working or not for photos - I’m not really concerned about playing games or having it light up. I plan to recharge it every night, just like I charge my phone and watch.

Yeah I actually have the charger next to it. They are stored together. I loved the way it lit up at certain times and also during the nightime shows. I thought it was a wee bit of extra magic.

Does anyone know if this orange bird magic band is still available on property anywhere?Screenshot_20240517_193758_Disney Store.jpg

MB+ is showing up in the MDE App but not on the website. MDE website (disney.go) is telling me to buy a new band.

Current MB+ nor any of my previous MB's are showing up. Bug?

For resort stays, when we pre-purchase online, does Disney send one charger per band or one charger for the order/room? We have a split stay, so would divide up the orders if the latter.

Do they even have any magic bands under 25.00 anymore. I’m not really interested in magic band plus and charging it. I have some old ones but haven’t used any for 2 years. Not sure the battery is still good.

I can’t answer the price question, but I can tell you your old MBs will still work for everything that requires you to tap your MB to a reader - opening room doors, entering parks & Genie+LLs, charging to your room, etc. The only function that goes away is linking ride photos where there isn’t a photo tap point at the end of the ride.

Oh good thank you!

Hi all, we are travelling to WDW in July. I have the old magic bands. So I am wondering if it is worth purchasing the newer MagicBand+? I would appreciate anyone's perspective on why you think it's worth it or not worth it. Thank you all.

Not worth it in my opinion. I have the new, but mostly wear the old. I have issues getting my new band charged. And the charge doesn’t last long.

I bought one for our upcoming trip in January, but only because it will be toddler DGD’s first visit and I want to be sure to get all photos. I will charge it every night along with all my other electronics. If it weren’t for the photos (and a little bit for Oswald on the puck) I’d just use one of my old MB2 and hope that my phone would link photos using Bluetooth.

The old MB2 will work indefinitely for all tap functions, which are the important ones IMHO.

I got a new one just because they had a design I really loved. I didn't have any issues with charging, and we started at opening and finished at closing each day. Just charged each night while I slept. Honestly, didn't really notice any difference between using the old version verses the new besides the occasional vibration / flashing which I could leave or take. It was neat at times but not something worth paying for just for that. Definitely don't think it is a must have. I will also say my new one is already cracking after less than a week of wearing it. My old bands have withstood many trips, and are still in great shape, but maybe I just a got a bad one this trip?

I also was not all that pleased with my MB+. Its various functions in terms of charging, pairing, light patterns, etc. were not that easy to understand. I had to figure out most of that from reading posts online. Also I had a tough time getting it to do the interactive buzzing/light up thing with the 50th anniversary statues in the parks a while back. I like the design (Avengers) and haven't noticed any issues with durability. Overall, however, I cannot recommend it.

Thank you @lovethattink, @CarolynFH, @nighttowll, and @MIChessGuy for your responses. I decided I wasn't going to purchase them. Then all my travelling companions realized they couldn't find their bands and really wanted them. So I gave in and we all ordered them online. I saw a really cool Adventureland Magic Band on sale. So I ordered that one for myself. Today, I received the email that they shipped and when I went to review the order, I realized my Magic Band is not a Magic Band+ but a Magic Band 2 🤷‍♀️! I am a dumb dumb...

Oh no! Well, DD and DSiL ordered MB2 for our January trip because they didn’t want the MB+, and I can tell you that the Adventureland one is really pretty! And you’ll be with your traveling companions when the MB+ does those special things like lighting up with the fireworks, which are the only things your MB2 won’t do.

Thanks for making me feel better! :)
