Scene+ Program

Thank you! I just checked and Ontario Sobeys has the same buy $150 get 1,000 points.

Sadly, Thrifty Foods doesn't seem to have this deal this week! I was really hoping to grab the max 5000 points and then get myself one last Disney gift card before my trip in a few weeks!

I just checked the web site again today.
I was looking to see if they had brought back the Disney gift cards but still don't see them.
Anyone else check recently to see if Gift cards have been added back?

Thanks Mel

As far as I can see the GC redemption is still down. What I do is buy a Disney GC at Thrifty Foods when I buy groceries and redeem the dollar amount of the GC at the till. You just have to make sure you are buying as much or more in groceries as you get in GC. So, buy $50 worth of groceries, add on a $50 GC, and redeem $50 worth of points. The points/$ for Disney GC is WAY better than redeeming online.

Glad I could help!

I am not 100% sure but I *think* the Disney GC redemption amount online for a $50 GC was over 6000 points but if you do it the way I described, it will only cost you 5000 because the system redeems the points at the till as if you are redeeming for groceries.

This is the way! Been doing this with PC points for years and now that I’ve switched to Scene I do the same thing. Makes my DVC dues a lot cheaper!

Thrifty Foods is doing the gift card deal this week! Time to grab my 5000 points and get that last Disney gift card!

How long do Scene points take to post from groceries? I went yesterday and earned a bunch at FreshCo, just curious if they are a week like AM or right away like PC (at least at Shoppers)?

I’m considering getting a Scotia Bank Scene Passport Visa Infinite card for the no Forex fee. Does anyone have/recommend it? We’re going to start traveling again so are shopping around for the best CC to use…

Definitely worth it for the first year (as it comes with a $300 sign-up bonus after spending $1,000 on the card). Beyond the first year, it's a great card if the amount you're saving on forex fees (2.5%) is greater than the $150 AF (i.e., if you spend $7.5k to $15k in non-CAD, depending on the category). One supplementary card is free as well. The six lounge passes are nice (and supplementary cards also get their own six passes -- not supposed to be that way, but it is), but I certainly wouldn't attribute too much value to them -- many lounges are overcrowded, and the food is typically not great).

Hi Hon
I saw your post about using the Scene+ points to get Disney Gift cards when shopping.
I was able to do this at Sobeys and will try next week at FreshCo.
💐
Thanks for the idea. It will make my DVC dues very easy to manage.
Hugs Mel

Edited to add :
No Forex Fee either.

For anyone who has the Scotiabank Scene Passport Visa Infinite card: is there a way to see how many points you are getting for a particular transaction?

I just got the card a few weeks ago - I can see the total balance of Scene points, but not what points I got for any individual transaction.

There are a few places where I'm unsure if they fit in the categories of "dining" and "transit" to get extra points. I can probably check my balance before and after those transactions post and do the math but there has to be an easier way!

We don't have that card, we have an Amex, but I see the multiplier breakdown in the scene website, not my credit card site.

Apologies if this is unclear:
Looking at my points history I can see I earned say, 100 points for buying gas, and it usually indicates that was 5x points and the original dollar value of the charge. As compared to buying something non-multiplier, it just shows 100 points, and the dollar value charged.

I am replying on my phone without the website open and going on my memory so I hope you can still find that breakdown for your card.

Ah, perfect, thank you, I see it now. I didn't even think to check the Scene website.
